Salary range: $117,669.00 to $133,533.00 per year, 37.5 hours/week

Northern Allowance:

$25,646.00 per year (Qikiqtarjuaq)

$29,149.00 per year (Pond Inlet)

Housing: Subsidized Staff Housing is not Available

Union Status: Nunavut Employees Union

This employment chance is restricted to residents of Qikiqtarjuaq and Pond Inlet only.

An eligibility list may be created to fill current and future vacancies across the department in all communities.

Reporting to the Wildlife Manager (North/South Baffin), the Conservation Officer III (CO III) leads the delivery of wildlife management, environmental protection, and mixed/traditional economy programs in an assigned region of Nunavut in accordance with applicable legislation and the Nunavut Agreement. The position supervises staff and works closely with Hunters and Trappers Organizations (HTOs), communities, and partner agencies such as DFO, CWS, and the RCMP to support effective enforcement and sustainable resource management. The CO III enforces wildlife and environmental legislation, delivers public education and training,



and supports co-management approaches that balance conservation with traditional harvesting practices.

Through strong leadership and collaboration, the role helps ensure a sustainable renewable resource economy that meets the needs of Nunavummiut.

Department of Environment The Department of Workplace is responsible for program areas such as Wildlife Management, Parks and Special Places, Environmental Protection and fisheries and sealing. This department provides education and outreach to a wide range of audiences including youth, community members, elders and teachers to ensure the Inuit societal value of Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq (environmental stewardship).
