Contract Event Operations Lead – Toronto

Handsome is an experiential events company producing brand activations, pop-ups and premium hospitality experiences across Canada.

You’ll get to work behind the scenes with some of the coolest brands, helping bring creative activations and experiences to life. No two events are exactly the same.

We are looking for an exceptional Event Operations Lead in Toronto who can take ownership of activations on the ground and represent our team professionally when working directly with clients.

This is not a typical event staff position. We need someone resourceful, hands-on and dependable who can be trusted to run an activation when working independently.

The Role

Depending on the activation, you may be responsible for:

- Picking up, transporting and returning event equipment
- Driving cargo vans, rental vehicles and other event vehicles
- Managing load-ins, setups and teardowns
- Leading in office event teams
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and venue staff
- Making sure branding, displays and equipment are set up properly
- Following detailed event briefs and client requirements
- Troubleshooting problems and making good decisions independently
- Purchasing last-minute supplies when required
- Taking clear photos and videos of completed setups
- Providing updates to our team throughout an activation
- Making sure equipment is properly packed, accounted for and returned after an event

Our activations vary considerably. One event might involve a branded hospitality experience, while another could involve a retail pop-up, product launch, mobile activation or experiential campaign. Who We're Looking For The right person is:

- Comfortable leading and directing other event staff
- Hands-on and willing to load, unload and move equipment
- Comfortable communicating by phone, text and WhatsApp throughout an event
- Available for early mornings, evenings and weekends when required
- Based in the Greater Toronto Area

Driving Is Essential A valid driver's licence and strong driving ability are required for this position.

You must be comfortable

- Driving throughout Toronto and the GTA
- Driving cargo vans and rental vehicles
- Picking up and returning rental vehicles
- Loading and unloading equipment
- Occasionally driving to events elsewhere in Ontario

If you are not comfortable driving larger vehicles in downtown Toronto, this position will not be a good fit.

Experience

Experience in experiential marketing, events, production, hospitality, catering, logistics, brand activations or a similar environment is an asset.

However, we're more interested in how you operate than having a specific background.

We're looking for someone who notices when something isn't right and fixes it, communicates well with clients, takes pride in how an activation looks and understands that the small details matter.

Schedule

This is an event-based contract position rather than a fixed weekly schedule.

Hours will vary depending on our event calendar and may include weekdays, weekends, early mornings and evenings.

There is potential for regular ongoing work for the right person as our Toronto operations continue to grow.

Compensation

$30–$35 per hour, depending on experience and capabilities.
