Overview

Maharaja Restaurant is looking for a reliable Cook to join our kitchen team at our Homestead location.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working across multiple kitchen stations and able to stay organized during busy restaurant service. Previous Indian restaurant experience is preferred; however, candidates with professional kitchen experience and a willingness to learn our recipes and systems will also be considered.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook food according to restaurant recipes, portions and presentation standards.
- Work across multiple kitchen stations, including curry/pan, tandoor, fryer and prep, depending on experience and training.
- Complete daily preparation and ensure stations are properly stocked before service.
- Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, portioning and presentation.
- Handle busy restaurant, takeout and catering production efficiently.
- Assist with bulk preparation and catering orders when required.
- Label, date, cool and store food correctly.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation and allergen-handling procedures.




- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workstation.
- Complete assigned cleaning and kitchen-closing duties.
- Work cooperatively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Requirements

- Previous qualified kitchen experience is preferred.
- Indian restaurant experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work across multiple kitchen stations.
- Good knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and portioning requirements.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and productive during busy service periods.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team.
- Weekend and late-closing availability is required.
- Must have reliable transportation after late shifts, as public transportation may not be available after closing.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
