Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, analyzing costs, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is crucial in helping our organization maintain financial integrity and optimize operational efficiency.

This key role is responsible for executing and improving costing analysis, internal controls, and financial reporting processes that drive operational performance. You will manage and maintain inventory master and Bills of Materials (BOMs)/ Finished Product Specification (FPS), ensure production departments are operating against budget by tracking, reporting, and analyzing variances.

Duties

- Prepare and analyze cost reports to assist in budgeting and forecasting.
- Conduct account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks for financial reporting and data management.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Standard Costing & Inventory Master Data
- Maintain Master records for inventory items and costed products.
- Build and maintain BOMs /FPSs, to allocate direct labor, overhead and waste accurately.
- Ensure accurate costing of purchased materials; update inventory values based on recent pricing.
- Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate product costing.
- Financial Reporting & Variance Analysis




- Prepare and distribute weekly Flash Reports, including customer volumes, labor, and overhead analysis.
- Participate in month-end close activities, ensuring timely reconciliation of inventory and cost entries.
- Conduct detailed analysis of material cost variances, scrap, freight, and pallet expenses.

Support overall financial accuracy through data-driven insights. Budgeting & Forecasting

- Support the preparation and execution of annual operating budgets for the facility.
- Provide cost projections and variance analyses to aid in financial planning.
- Internal Controls & Inventory Integrity
- Administer BOMs/FPSs, costed BOM/FPS updates on a Monthly basis.
- Perform daily cycle count adjustments and lead the annual physical inventory, including execution, planning, and reconciliation of finished goods, raw materials, and WIP.
- Maintain robust internal controls related to inventory, material movements, and costing accuracy.

Experience

- 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in applying standard costs, building cost models, and maintaining BOMs. Experience with MRP/ERP systems; familiarity with manufacturing processes and cost drivers
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly related to cost analysis.
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, macros, data exports/imports)
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to prepare and present reports to senior management and operations teams.
