Join the educational landscape as a District Indigenous Education Counsellor for Grades K-12 in Cranbrook & Elk Valley. This full-time continuing role focuses on culturally relevant counselling support. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Indigenous-focused guidance across School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay), beginning September 8, 2026.
Applicants must possess a Master's Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch and relevant teaching experience. Training in Indigenous practices is highly valued, with preference given to Indigenous ancestry. Key Responsibilities:
- Counsel and support K-12 students' mental health
- Integrate Indigenous cultural practices into education
- Build partnerships with local communities
- Implement strategies for student success
- Participate in training and workshops Requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology
- BC Teacher Certification is an asset
- Teaching experience at K-12 level required
- Familiarity with Indigenous health and education
