Summary

As Providence Health Care prepares for the opening of the Current St. Paul's Hospital, some aspects of this position may evolve during the transition period. While the overall nature of the role is expected to remain substantially the same, operational requirements may result in adjustments to scheduling, FTE, unit assignment, site or other operational details.

JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a patient, client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Under general supervision of the Manager, Food Services, Coordinator or designate, performs a variety of duties related to the receipt, storage, control, and issuance of food supplies. Takes inventory, monitors stock rotation, and tidies stores areas as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Grade 12, plus one (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Receives, inspects, unpacks, counts and checks received goods against purchase orders. Ensures goods are delivered to appropriate destination. Enters information, prints receiving reports and forwards to Accounts Payable.

Decants and stores food and non-food supplies in designated bins, shelves, fridges, freezers and other specified containers and areas.



Monitors fridge and freezer temperatures in accordance with established procedures.

Monitors and notifies Manager, Food Services and/or Coordinator of inventory levels, dates, and rotation of stock for food items and perishable supplies.

Issues and transports food supplies to specified areas in the department according to standing orders and authorized requisitions.

Performs duties in accordance with all sanitation and safety requirements (e.g., HACCP and WHMIS). Reports injuries and safety hazards to Manager or designate immediately.

Ensures that necessary stock adjustment documents are duly completed. Advises purchasing of any unusual inventory movement or inventory problems.

Identifies receiving incorrect and damaged goods based on food safety protocols and contacts supplier, obtains returned goods memo from Purchasing and packs damaged goods for return. Completes appropriate documentation.

Prepares write-off documentation for the return of stale-dated and damaged inventory and charges to specific account.

Advises purchasing when re-order levels are reached.

Collects, sorts, stamps and deposits mail as required.

Performs photocopying and duplicating as required.

Supplies information to departments about stock items as required.

Maintains stores areas in an orderly and clean manner.

Performs other related duties as required.
