Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity where your skills can shine? We are looking for two Divisional Assistant Managers, Nights/Weekends to join our team!

What You Will Do

In this position you will be responsible for the night and weekend oversight of the transportation departments in the Transportation Group. This role assists in ensuring that transit services are maintained and that all areas’ and business needs are met and consistent with departmental and group goals. You will address incidents and unplanned disruptions to ensure the optimum performance of operating personnel, both staff and union.

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

- Assists the Transportation Group with monitoring and directing the night and weekend operations of the transportation departments by providing management presence during non-peak hours throughout the transit system.
- Attend unplanned disruptions, incidents and emergencies to ensure the workforce takes appropriate action and actively implements the necessary TTC emergency plan, standard operating procedures, or policy, as required to mitigate lengthy disruptions to the customer.
- Monitor customer service related activities to ensure they are managed and remain the focus of employee activities.
- Ensure effective incident management in accordance with departmental and group goals and an overall commitment to ensure service that is safe, reliable, on-time, and accessible.
- Assist with the development and administration of standards that ensure efficiency, quality of work, safety and effective performance.
- Assist in ensuring that the Departments’ activities are within budget and in line with the department’s goals and objectives.
- Promote and maintain professional working relationships and communications with staff and union employees, Union Board Members and Shop Stewards, municipal officials to hear complaints, counsellors’ offices, the customer, etc.
- Remain informed on changing government legislation, trends, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare various written documentation such as reports, memos, letters, etc.
- Conduct counselling, written warnings, disciplinary interviews, and participate in the union grievance process.




- Research information and prepare various reports and recommendations related to the work.
- May be required to provide expert technical opinion/or advice during legal proceedings and/or governmental investigations.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings.
- Act as representative of the TTC at various committees, as required.

- Participation in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

- Completion of a post-secondary education, or the equivalent combined with several years of related work experience, including some supervisory experience with exposure to a broad range of operational activities (preferably in a unionized environment).
- Comprehensive knowledge of business practices and procedures with a demonstrated commitment to employee safety and positive union/management relations.
- Sound knowledge of policies, legislation (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights Code, etc.) and initiatives affecting customers, employees and work practices.
- Excellent analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills to deal with the complexities of the operations of the Transportation Group.
- Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills to promote a harmonious work environment and to effectively manage, motivate, counsel, coach, discipline, commend, and assess the performance of employees.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent administrative, team building, leadership and decision-making skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with good public speaking and presentation skills.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and computer technologies relevant to the work.
- A valid non-probationary, class ‘G’ or better Province of Ontario driver’s license.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
- Must have or must acquire sound knowledge of the applicable Collective Agreement, Transportation Group and TTC policies and procedures, as well as operating procedures and work practices relevant to the work.
