Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Dozer and Excavator Operator role located in Alberta, Canada. The operator will safely operate dozers and excavators to perform civil earthworks tasks such as grading, trenching, excavation, backfilling, and site preparation on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Daily responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining equipment, following project plans and grade specifications, and coordinating with site supervisors and crew members to meet production and quality targets.
The role involves adhering to all safety policies and procedures, participating in tailgate or toolbox meetings,
and reporting hazards or equipment issues promptly. The operator will also assist with general site labor as needed and support efficient project completion in varying weather and ground conditions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating dozers and excavators in civil earthworks or construction environments, with strong skills in grading, trenching, and excavation.
- Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance, pre-trip inspections, and secure operating practices for heavy equipment.
- Understanding of construction drawings, grade stakes, site layouts, and the ability to follow directions from forepersons and supervisors.
- Commitment to safety, including familiarity with OH&S; regulations, participation in safety programs, and willingness to follow company safety procedures.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse crews and work respectfully in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather, stand or sit for extended periods, and perform tasks in a fast-paced construction setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to various job sites; additional equipment operator certifications or tickets are an asset.
- Previous experience in civil construction or earthworks in Alberta or similar regions is preferred; familiarity with COR-certified safety environments is beneficial.
