The Opportunity
Ambipar Response Canada is seeking an Emergency Response Technician to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC.
The Emergency Response Technician will support emergency response operations involving environmental incidents, hazardous materials, fire response, medical response, confined space rescue, and other emergency situations. This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including remote locations, and participate in an emergency response and on-call schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency situations involving environmental, industrial, fire, medical, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Participate in emergency response activities to protect people, property, and the environment.
- Support confined space rescue operations and working-at-height activities as required.
- Inspect, maintain, and prepare rescue equipment for deployment.
- Participate in fire response activities, including wildland fire response when required.
- Work in remote locations and assist with the inspection, maintenance, and preparation of fire response equipment.
- Participate in hazardous materials response activities, including chemical transfer and packaging, spill containment, and remediation.
- Assist with medical response activities and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
- Complete daily tasks in the shop and at worksites.
- Work effectively as part of a team during emergency response and routine operations.
- Attend and participate in internal and external worksite meetings.
- Participate in required internal and external training.
- Maintain equipment and ensure response supplies are ready for deployment.
- Follow company health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with 6 or fewer demerits.
- Ability to work an emergency response and on-call schedule.
- Ability to work in remote locations and a variety of field environments.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to participate in required training and maintain required certifications.
Preferred
- At least 1 year of emergency response experience.
- Confined Space Rescue certification.
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification.
- H2S Alive certification.
- NFPA 1001 or NFPA 1081 certification.
- NFPA 1051 certification.
- NFPA 1006 certification.
- NFPA 1072 certification.
- Swiftwater Rescue certification.
Candidates who do not hold all of the preferred certifications may still be considered based on their relevant experience, qualifications, and ability to complete required training.
Schedule
- 14 days on / 7 days off
- Day and night shifts as required
- 24/7/365 on-call availability while on rotation
- Work outside of regular hours may be required during emergency response situations
