Responsibilities
The Evening Academic Coach is a key member of our collaborative Evening Support Team, bringing learning strategy and executive functioning expertise to our comprehensive student support services. Working alongside other team members two evenings per week, this role provides specialized academic coaching support through individual and small group academic coaching sessions for Lakefield College School students. The position focuses on supporting students with learning differences and those seeking additional guidance, while actively collaborating with fellow Evening Support Team members to ensure comprehensive academic support across subjects, grade levels, and skills.
The ideal candidate will contribute to our team-based approach, sharing insights with colleagues while maintaining flexibility to address varying student needs as they arise.
Duties will include
- Provide support using an academic coaching framework for individuals and small groups across all grade levels (9-12), including but not limited to executive functioning, study skills and test preparation
- Collaborate with Learning Team members, both evening and day staff,
to develop comprehensive support strategies for students to ensure supports are aligned
- Communicate strategies and supports positively impacting student success with team members and LCS supportive adults
- Maintain detailed documentation of coaching sessions and student progress
- Actively participate in Evening Support Team meetings, contributing to team discussions and professional development
- Contribute to the development and refinement of Evening Support Team practices and protocols
Skills/Education
- Bachelor of Education
- Special Education, Part 1 AQ preferred
- Demonstrated ability to support core curriculum concepts for Ontario high school curriculum, Grade 9 through Grade 12 university preparatory, and strong ability to meet the learning needs of individual students
- Additional qualifications for and/or experience with teaching adolescents with identified learning differences in a small group setting
Schedule
- 5 contact hours per week during Academic Terms. Contact hours are 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., two evenings per week during the academic year (September 2026 - June 2027, Monday - Thursday evenings)
- On days when the school is closed or study is cancelled, no classroom coaching sessions will be held, and as such, no contact hours will be made available. Please note that LCS may amend this schedule with notice to better meet programming or other organizational requirements. The Evening Support program does not run Friday through Sunday.
Contract Dates
- September 2026 – June 2027

Compensation: This is a part time hourly role at $61.75 for contact hours and $20.00 for training and/or staff meetings
