We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to provide overall leadership for the home. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Executive Director will be accountable for resident experience, quality of care, people leadership, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
As Tillsonburg transitions from its opening phase into established operations, the Executive Director will play an important role in strengthening the leadership team, supporting resident move-ins and occupancy growth, embedding effective operational practices, and creating a connected, high-performing culture from the ground up.
Home Leadership & Strategic Operations
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the home, ensuring effective day-to-day operations across all departments.
- Lead the implementation of peopleCare’s strategic priorities at the home level with a focus on resident experience, leadership development, operational excellence, growth, and community impact.
- Guide the home through its post-opening transition, establishing strong operational practices, systems, routines, and accountabilities as the home continues to grow and mature.
- Develop and execute annual operational plans with explicit goals, performance indicators, priorities, and improvement initiatives.
- Use operational data, business metrics, resident and family feedback, compliance outcomes, and quality indicators to evaluate performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure resources are aligned with resident needs, operational priorities, legislative requirements, and organizational goals.
People Leadership & Culture
- Lead, coach, and support a multidisciplinary team within a unionized long-term care environment.
- Build, mentor, and empower a strong home leadership team through clear direction, collaborative oversight, coaching, and accountability.
- Establish a cohesive and engaging culture within the newly opened home where team members feel supported, connected, accountable, and empowered to succeed.
- Partner with People and Culture to support recruitment, retention, onboarding, attendance management, performance management, labour relations, investigations, accommodation, and leadership development.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and contingency plans are in place across departments to support safe resident care and effective operations.
- Model professional communication, ethical decision-making, respectful leadership, and peopleCare’s values in all interactions.
Resident & Family Experience
- Champion a resident-centred approach that promotes dignity, choice, safety, comfort, quality of life, and meaningful experiences.
- Support the continued welcoming and integration of residents and families into the newly opened home, helping create a strong sense of community and belonging.
- Ensure residents receive care and services that meet their assessed needs and align with legislative requirements and peopleCare standards.
- Build positive and responsive relationships with residents, families, substitute decision-makers, Residents’ Council, Family Council, and community partners.
- Ensure resident and family concerns are addressed in a timely, respectful, transparent, and solutions-focused manner.
- Foster an environment where residents, families, and team members feel heard, respected, included, and connected.
Quality, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure the home operates in compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, Ministry directives, public health guidance, collective agreements, professional standards, and peopleCare policies.
- Provide leadership in quality improvement, risk management, resident safety, emergency preparedness, infection prevention and control, privacy, and documentation.
- Monitor compliance inspections, quality indicators, incidents, complaints, audits, and other operational and clinical trends.
- Ensure corrective actions and improvement initiatives are implemented, monitored, and sustained.
- Support the effective functioning of quality, risk, safety, infection prevention and control, professional advisory, and interdisciplinary committees.
- Maintain strong systems and processes as the newly opened home transitions into sustainable, long-term operations.
Financial & Business Management
- Provide accountable financial leadership for the home, including budget management, operating performance, staffing costs, expenditure control, funding utilization, and financial reporting.
- Monitor operating statements, labour metrics, and key financial indicators to support responsible decision-making.
- Ensure the efficient use of human, physical, and financial resources while maintaining high standards of resident care and service.
- Identify operational pressures,
risks, efficiencies, and opportunities and take appropriate action.
- Support capital planning, procurement, maintenance, environmental services, and other operational requirements to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning new home.
Partnerships, Communication & Community Relationships
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, team members, community organizations, healthcare partners, service providers, and other stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison with Ministry officials, inspectors, public health, Ontario Health, professional advisors, and community partners.
- Strengthen the home’s presence within Tillsonburg and establish meaningful partnerships that support residents, families, recruitment, and the long-term success of the home.
- Work collaboratively with internal partners across Operations, Clinical, People and Culture, Finance, Quality, Risk, IPAC, Communications, and other support teams.
- Represent peopleCare positively and professionally within the home, the community, and the broader long-term care sector.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration; or a post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is a minimum of two years in duration.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, a Long-Term Care Administration or Management program in accordance with applicable legislative requirements.
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, seniors’ services, long-term care, social services, or another relevant setting is preferred.
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team within a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario long-term care legislation, regulatory compliance, inspection processes, quality improvement, risk management, resident safety, and operational standards.
- Demonstrated experience with budget management, staffing models, business planning, operating performance, and performance metrics.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to leadership development, innovation, continuous improvement, and creating an exceptional resident and team member experience.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check required.
