Position Summary The Flat Roof Torcher is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and residential flat roofing systems using torch-applied membranes, and other commercial roofing systems. The role requires safe operation of propane torch equipment, adherence to company safety procedures, and delivery of high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

- Install torch-applied SBS and modified bitumen roofing systems.
- Prepare roof surfaces by cleaning, priming, and applying base sheets.
- Operate propane torches safely and efficiently.
- Install insulation, vapour barriers, cover boards, flashings, and roofing membranes.
- Complete roof repairs, leak investigations, and maintenance work.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain tools in good working condition.
- Follow all safety policies, including fall protection and hot-work procedures.
- Work effectively with crew members, foremen, and site supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.





Job requirements

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a flat roofer.
- Working knowledge of installation of SBS, EPDM, TPO/PVC, and hot asphalt roofing systems.
- Journeyman Certification is considered an asset.
- First Aid, Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform (AWP), CSTS 2020 certifications are considered strong assets.
- Your own personally worn protective equipment is considered a must.
- Your own hand tools are considered an asset, including torch, hoses, and cane.
- Valid driver’s license preferred, or reliable transportation to job sites in and around Calgary is a must.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs (25 kg).
- Comfortable working at heights and climbing scaffolding/ladders.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Willing to work overtime during peak season to meet project deadlines.

Reporting Relationship Reports to the Roofing Foreman or Site Supervisor.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
