Job Summary The Queen’s Journal is an entirely student-run newspaper at Queen’s University. The paper was founded in 1873 and has been continually published ever since. The Journal publishes a bi-weekly print edition and regular online content throughout the year.

Job Competencies Communication Organization Ownership Attention to Detail Cultural Sensitivity Creativity Job Duties With a co-editor, publish one feature weekly (for Friday publication) Edit and fact-check each story Attend all in-print press days to lay out stories in the paper (occurs every other Thursday) For both in-print and online-only press day,
upload stories to The Journal’s website (occurs every Monday and Thursday for the first six weeks of each semester and every Thursday for the last six weeks of the semester) Work with the Production Manager and visuals team to develop visual content for each story Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards Maintain timely communication with your direct supervisor Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement Complete other job duties as assigned Job Requirements Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills Ability to thrive in a quick-paced environment Working Conditions Interaction and collaboration with coworkers, management and the Queen’s community
