Fractional Controller (CPA)

Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid/Flexible) | Part-Time (3 Days/Week) | Potential Path to Full-Time

OTUS Group is seeking an experienced CPA-designated Controller to join our growing team in a flexible, fractional capacity. This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional who enjoys working across multiple organizations, solving complex financial challenges, and partnering directly with executive teams.

Initially structured as a part-time engagement of approximately three days per week, this position has the potential to evolve into a full-time role as our client portfolio continues to grow.

What You'll Do

- Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of clients
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reporting packages
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Coordinate with external auditors and support audit readiness activities
- Review accounting processes and recommend operational improvements
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide coaching and support to bookkeeping and finance staff




- Collaborate with OTUS Partners and Fractional CFOs on client engagements

What We're Looking For
- CPA designation required
- Progressive experience in accounting and financial management, including Controller-level responsibilities
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to work independently in a flexible, consulting-oriented environment
- Experience with nonprofit, association, or registered charities
- Experience within an accounting firm
