Wesco Trailer Rentals is looking for a hard-working, mechanically inclined General Labourer / Trailer Repair Apprentice to join our growing service team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has some experience working with trucks, transport trailers, heavy equipment, automotive repair, welding, fabrication or mechanical work and wants to build a long-term career in the transportation repair industry.

For the right candidate, we are looking for someone who is interested in developing their skills and potentially working toward a 310J Truck-Trailer Service Technician or 310T Truck and Coach Technician licence in the future.

Responsibilities

- Assist mechanics and apprentices with repairs and maintenance on 53-ft dry van trailers
- Perform general trailer repair and maintenance work under appropriate supervision
- Assist with brake, suspension, air system, lighting and electrical repairs
- Assist with tire and wheel removal/replacement
- Repair trailer doors, hinges, latches, panels and other components
- Assist with welding, fabrication and body repairs
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and inspections
- Assist with mobile service calls as required
- Move trailers, equipment, parts and materials around the yard/shop
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe shop setting
- Use hand tools, power tools and shop equipment
- Assist with parts organization and inventory
- Perform other general shop and yard duties as required

Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, automotive or mechanical repairs — preferred but not mandatory
- Is mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools




- Is willing to learn and take direction from experienced technicians
- Wants to develop a long-term career in the skilled trades
- Is dependable, punctual and willing to work
- Is comfortable performing physical work indoors and outdoors
- Can work independently as their experience develops
- Has a valid driver's licence
- Welding or fabrication experience is considered an asset
- Experience with transport trailers is a strong asset
