The Opportunity

We are seeking a Grade 8 Teacher who is passionate about working with young adolescents and who understands that these years are an important period of intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

The successful candidate will create a classroom environment that is structured yet warm, academically rigorous yet engaging, and rooted in respect, compassion, and Christian values.

This teacher should be able to inspire curiosity, encourage students to ask questions, and help students develop confidence in their own thinking.

The role may include teaching multiple subjects appropriate to the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for Grade 8 students.
- Follow the Ontario Curriculum and maintain high academic expectations.
- Use active-learning, inquiry-based, team-oriented, and experiential approaches.
- Differentiate instruction according to students' individual learning needs.
- Develop students' literacy, numeracy, communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage students to ask questions, explore ideas, and make connections between classroom learning and the real world.




- Assess student learning fairly and consistently and provide meaningful feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student development and academic progress.

Student Development & Mentorship

- Build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with students.
- Support students through the social and emotional challenges of early adolescence.
- Help students develop independence, responsibility, resilience, self-awareness, and confidence.
- Establish clear classroom expectations while maintaining a compassionate and supportive environment.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to students' individual strengths, challenges, and developmental needs.
- Serve as a positive role model in character, integrity, communication, and conduct.

Christian Education & School Culture

- Integrate Christian principles naturally and appropriately into teaching, relationships, classroom culture, and student development.
- Support FHA's Christian educational mission and values.
- Encourage students to develop compassion, integrity, responsibility, humility, and respect for others.
- Participate in school worship, chapel, community activities, special events, and other aspects of school life as appropriate.
- Contribute to a school culture where students feel known, accepted, valued, and supported.

Collaboration

- Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, support staff, and families.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and student-support discussions.
- Contribute ideas to improve curriculum, student experience, and school culture.
- Maintain professional communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

- Experience teaching in Grades 7–8 or middle school.
- Experience teaching multiple subjects.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive and well-managed classroom.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of a Christian school.




- Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, or experiential learning.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Experience integrating technology effectively into learning.
- Ontario teaching qualification in good standing with the OCT, or eligibility for Ontario certification.
