We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable AP Physics Tutor to join our growing team.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field, with demonstrated experience teaching IB DP Physics at SL and/or HL level. Previous IB teaching, tutoring, or examination preparation experience strongly preferred. Experience with IB Physics Internal Assessment (IA), experimental design, uncertainty analysis, and data interpretation is highly desirable.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AP Physics Tutor to teach motivated high school students preparing for Advanced Placement (AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and/or AP Physics C) examinations. The ideal candidate can simplify complex physics concepts, develop strong problem-solving skills, and inspire students to excel academically.

Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging one-on-one and small-group AP Physics tutoring sessions.
- Teach core topics including:
- Kinematics
- Newtonian Mechanics
- Energy and Momentum
- Circular Motion & Gravitation
- Rotational Motion
- Oscillations & Waves
- Electricity & Magnetism
- Optics
- Thermodynamics
- Modern Physics (where applicable)
- Prepare students for AP exams using College Board standards.
- Explain difficult concepts through real-world examples and demonstrations.
- Develop personalized lesson plans based on each student's strengths and areas for improvement.
- Assign and review homework,



practice tests, and AP-style free-response questions.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and the academic team.
- Foster confidence, curiosity, and independent learning habits.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field (Master's degree is an asset).
- Strong knowledge of AP Physics curriculum and College Board exam expectations.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience (minimum 1–2 years preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain advanced concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
- Experience working with high school students.
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation is an asset but not required.

Preferred Skills

- Familiarity with AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and AP Physics C.
- Ability to teach IB Physics - SL and HL Physics
- Ability to teach calculus-based physics is highly desirable.
- Preparation for IB Physics examinations
- Multiple-choice and structured questions
- Data-based questions
- Quantitative problem solving
- Interpretation of graphs, tables and experimental data
- Familiarity with the IB Physics formula/data booklet
- Teaching students how to construct clear, scientifically justified answers
- Experience using online teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
- Robust problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Teach problem-solving strategies, not just formula memorization
- Build student confidence
- Adapt lessons to the student's IB level and learning style
- Help students develop independent study habits
