Position Overview
Teach History and Geography to high school students in a modern K–12 school that blends Ontario curriculum with Anishininiimowin language, land-based learning and community traditions. Average class size is 20-30 students with an Educational Assistant assigned to every room.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the Ontario Secondary School curriculum in your subject area to Grades 9–12 in-person.
- Adapt materials for diverse learners and integrate Indigenous and land-based content where appropriate.
- Develop and update Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with colleagues.
- Track and report student progress and credit accumulation.
- Integrate technology to support teaching and student engagement.
- Support extra-curricular programs, cultural activities, and special events.
- Participate in a cooperative and supportive staff culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education and Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate (Intermediate/Senior) with subject specialist qualifications.
- Experience teaching specified high school subjects; knowledge of Indigenous contexts or a willingness to learn is an asset.
- Strong classroom management skills and commitment to equity and student success.
- Proficiency with technology and digital teaching tools.
- Ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Salary & Benefits
- $56,000 – $119,977, based on QECO category and experience
