Job Summary: To be a team member of the Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Service and as such, assist in the provision of Community Respiratory Physiotherapy services in Sefton. To assume a clinical role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within this specialty, providing a comprehensive community respiratory physiotherapy service for patients with complex health needs, formulated around evidence-based practice and recognized national standards. Develop standards of practice and clinical guidance in this area using audit and current models of best practice. To work as an autonomous clinician using specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the treatment of patients within this specialty who have acute and long term, responsible and terminal medical conditions.
To use highly developed analytical and judgment skills to be directly involved in the clinical decision making process as part of the multidisciplinary team, using and interpreting the results of diagnostic tests to progress the management of the childs condition and respiratory status. To be a key part in the clinical decision-making process as part of the respiratory and community medical team, providing appropriate advice and education to families and colleagues to promote optimal management of the childrens long term condition. To be responsible for the supervision of junior staff and teaching post graduate students, regarding physiotherapy management and management of children with complex health needs. To lead and participate in research projects within the specialist field of the management of children with complex health needs in the community.
