Position Summary: All Supervisors serve as ambassadors for Employee, Resident/family and visitor relations, responsible for supporting hospitable community response as it pertains to delivery of day-to-day services.

The Hospitality Service Supervisor plays a pivotal role in meaningful dining, housekeeping, and laundry support for holistic daily living, with coordinating caretaker services. This role demands exceptional patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to maintain a calm, welcoming environment during high-volume situations.

The Hospitality Service

Supervisor supports, educates, and guides staff to ensure that day-to-day cleaning and meal service is person-centric. They provide honest and timely feedback to staff through regular check-ins and on-the-job training, modeling poise and constructive problem-solving.

Responsible to: This Hospitality Service Supervisor is responsible for reporting to the Hospitality Manager. The Hospitality Service Supervisor may periodically be assigned duties not outlined below by the Director of Operations.

Responsible for:

Operational Compliance

- Ensure programs and operational strategies are supported through daily service delivery in accordance with best practices, policies, quality improvement guidelines and regulated standards.
- Reference and review department policies and procedures for change as needed, or at least annually.
- Participate annually in a department budgeting process.
- Order, receive, and store critical department inventory.
- Participate in environmental and psychological safety practices pertaining to Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, WHMIS, and OH&S.;
- Attend and actively participate in various committees/meetings providing advice/input for Continuous Quality Improvements
- Ensure appropriate levels of certification and licensing are maintained by those employed as Housekeeping Aides and Dining Aides.
- Participate in the after-hours On-call process.




- Perform other services/tasks/duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Program Development
- Create, maintain, and supervise staffed support for delivery of community services, pertaining to person centric housekeeping and dining services.
- Create, maintain, and supervise staffed support for caretaker services, pertaining to resident media services, suite readiness, and janitorial services in common areas.
- Cooperative support of community recreational activities, such as meal service and site cleanliness, homemaker activities, gardening, and personal laundry activities.
- Facilitate third party support programs that enrich daily activities.

Workforce Management
- Support planning with Hospitality Manager for Housekeeping Aide duty assignments to ensure effective use of shift time. Overseeing day-to-day delegation.
- Support planning with Hospitality Manager for Dining Aide duty assignments to ensure effective use of shift time. Overseeing day-to-day delegation.
- Coordinate scheduling assignments to ensure adequate coverage is planned prior to approvals of elective time away from work (ex. vacation).
- Coordinate scheduling assignments to ensure adequate coverage is available during unexpected leave of absence (ex. Illness, personal, etc.).
- Fill open job positions, from candidate interviews through to selection.
- Review Housekeeping and Dining aide timesheets, biweekly for accuracy.
- Provide department orientation, shift training, and biannual department meetings.




- Conduct regular employee evaluations to support professional development and compliance of mandatory education for employee job retention.
- Purposefully track assigned duties as service goals for recognition of effectiveness and efficiency.
- Continuous implementation of improvements to service experience. Lead follow-up with Housekeeping and Dining Aides. Facilitating effective person to person communication for interactive problem solving. Communicating the service strategies and providing direction with coaching and mentorship. Applying progressive discipline with accountable staff.
- Promote team building through participation and/or leadership by example.
- Ongoing learning to expand knowledge through attending educational workshops when and where appropriate in keeping up with trends and advancements in cleaning and safe food handling.

Qualification Skills, and Abilities:
- A Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
- Supervision/leadership/educator/resolution/investigation experience required.
- First Aid and CPR an asset
- Demonstrates productive and effective organizational skills.
- Demonstrates an awareness/knowledge of the importance of health and safety; accident and injury prevention; and adheres to safe work practices and procedures.
- Proficient in the use of computers, specifically Microsoft Office 365.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility and a willingness to adjust workforce duties for dynamic circumstances or strategic direction.
- Proficient interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication, collaboration, and relationship-building in a professional setting
- Patience, active listener skills – an ability to bring a mix of empathy, patience, compassion, and reliability to every interaction.
- Effective verbal, and non-verbal communication – can clearly communicate, stay calm under pressure, and know how to adapt when situations change.
