Hybrid Yard Loader / Inside Sales Associate

Position Summary

This hybrid role combines hands‑on yard equipment operation with customer‑focused inside sales. You’ll switch between running loaders, organizing the yard, helping customers on-site, and supporting front‑counter sales, product inquiries, and order processing. Ideal for someone who likes variety, stays calm under pressure, and thrives in both physical and customer-facing work.

Key ResponsibilitiesYard & Equipment Operations

- Safely operate loaders and skid steers to load mulch, soil, rock, and aggregates
- Maintain clean, organized product bins and stockpiles
- Perform daily equipment checks (fluids, grease points, tires, safety systems)
- Direct yard traffic and ensure safe loading zones
- Assist with inventory counts, material rotation, and yard housekeeping

Inside Sales & Customer Service

- Greet walk-in customers and answer product questions
- Recommend materials based on project needs (mulch, soil, aggregates, specialty mixes)
- Create and process orders, invoices, and payments
- Coordinate with dispatch for deliveries and pickup scheduling
- Handle phone inquiries, quotes, and contractor accounts
- Maintain accurate product signage, pricing, and stock updates

Cross-Functional Support

- Jump between yard and office as needed during peak periods
- Support daily operations including restocking, bin labeling, and product QC
- Assist with resolving customer issues or order discrepancies




- Communicate clearly with the team to keep workflow smooth and safe

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Experience operating loaders or skid steers (or willingness to learn)
- Strong customer-service skills and explicit communication
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather
- Comfortable with physical tasks and lifting 50+ lbs
- Basic computer skills for POS, invoicing, and order entry
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

- Landscape supply, construction, or aggregate yard experience
- Loader/telehandler certification or transferrable skills
- Knowledge of common landscape materials
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting
