Injection Molding Lead Hand

Responsibilities

- Operate a molding machine (break coverage, employee absence), as necessary

- Direct the Injection Molding Operators and assign the workforce

- Train recent staff members, as required

- Oversee and ensure successful production (inspect parts at all machines, adjust parameters, as necessary)

- Complete production / inspection reports throughout shift

- Document any parameter changes on the production reports

- Make adjustments and record same to ensure efficient production of quality parts and minimize scrap

- Keep a lot of shift events (machine, process or personnel issues)

- Operator a forklift truck to get cages / totes / rubber and to put molded parts away in cages / totes / bins, as required

- Assist with cleaning molds if necessary

- Spray molds as required

- Communicate with other lead hands to ensure a smooth transition between shifts

- Report any new damage to machines / tools / equipment to lead hand or supervisor

- Ensure all timers are set and put into “run” position Saturday mornings, as applicable





- Turn off all molding machines and equipment (air compressor and dryer), ensure all outside doors are locked and secured on Saturday mornings at the end of the shift

- Start up the compressor and dryer on Monday mornings

- Work in “reclaim” area to recover scrapped parts, as required

- Work in an efficient productive manner

- Keep work area neat, tidy, and organized

- Work in a safe manner

- Other duties as required

Knowledge & Skills

- Reasonable manual dexterity

- Ability to read part drawings and final inspection criteria

- Ability to Lead / supervise other workers

Experience

- Previous industrial / factory experience an asset particularly in the polymer processing

- Previous experience working 3 shifts an asset

Education

- Minimum High-School Diploma

Professional Affiliations

- None required

Other

- Forklift License, an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.07-$26.42 per hour
