Rushton Gas u0026 Oil Equipment

Edmonton

Build drawings that become real equipment. Join an established Edmonton manufacturer where you will work closely with project managers, engineers and the shop to produce practical, accurate fabrication drawings for pressure vessels, piping and skid-mounted oil and gas equipment.

About Rushton

Rushton Gas & Oil Equipment Ltd. has been designing and manufacturing custom oil and gas processing equipment in Edmonton since 1979. Our work is completed under established quality programs and built in our own fabrication facility, giving our drafting team direct exposure to the equipment they design and the people who build it.

The Role

As an Intermediate Draftsperson, you will take projects from design information and customer requirements through detailed fabrication drawings, bills of material and final as-built packages. This is a hands-on production drafting role suited to someone who understands how drawings flow through a manufacturing shop and takes pride in issuing clear, buildable work.

What You’ll Do

· Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for pressure vessels, piping systems, structural steel and skid-mounted equipment.

· Develop drawings from engineering calculations, customer specifications, P&IDs;, layouts, sketches and existing designs.

· Create accurate bills of material and supporting drawing/document packages.

· Revise standard designs to suit project-specific requirements while maintaining drafting standards and document control.

· Coordinate with project managers, engineers, purchasing, quality control and shop personnel to resolve questions before they affect fabrication.

· Review your own work for dimensional accuracy, completeness, constructability and consistency.

· Incorporate redlines, field changes and shop feedback, and prepare final as-built drawings.

· Manage multiple active projects and communicate priorities, questions and schedule concerns early.

What You Bring

· Diploma in Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology,

or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience.

· Approximately 3–5 years of mechanical or industrial drafting experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

· Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce clean, accurate 2D fabrication drawings with minimal supervision.

· Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs;, specifications, engineering drawings and customer standards.

· A practical understanding of fabrication, welding, piping, structural steel and equipment layout.

· Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to manage changing priorities.

· Clear written and verbal communication and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

Experience That Will Set You Apart

· Pressure vessel, process piping or skid-package drafting experience.

· Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3 and applicable Alberta oil and gas requirements.

· Experience with 3D CAD, plant design software, CADWorx or similar tools.

· Experience supporting an active fabrication shop and working directly with welders and fitters.

Why Join Rushton?

· See your work get built — our drafting office and fabrication shop work closely together.

· Varied custom projects — work on complete equipment packages instead of repeating the same drawing every day.

· Established local company — join an Edmonton manufacturer with decades of oil and gas experience.

· Opportunity to grow — expand your technical knowledge and take on greater project responsibility as your abilities develop.

Compensation & Perks

· Competitive compensation based on experience and demonstrated ability.

· Annual company bonus participation.

· Medical and dental benefits.

· RRSP matching and life insurance benefits.

· Paid job-related training and development.

· Vacation entitlement in accordance with company policy and Alberta employment standards.

How to Apply

Please submit your résumé and, if available, a small portfolio or sample of relevant drafting work. Tell us briefly about the types of equipment or fabrication drawings you have worked on and your level of AutoCAD experience.
