Take the next step in your career as a Junior Analyst, Private Equity Operations, joining us on an 18-month fixed-term basis.
This role is for someone who takes real pride in getting the details right — you'll process transaction notices, prepare payment instructions, and reconcile investment activity where accuracy matters every time, and you'll work closely with senior team members who will mentor you in this role.
You'll get hands-on exposure to the investment lifecycle from day one, developing a strong grasp of our core processes before progressively applying the AI and automation tools our team is building. With a degree and some relevant experience already under your belt, you'll build real, practical expertise in private equity operations while working alongside experienced professionals in Victoria, New York, and London.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to an Associate, the Junior Analyst, Private Equity Operations plays a key role in the transactions workstream of Private Equity Finance Operations and is responsible for day-to-day transaction processing, reconciliations, and investment administration.
The Junior
Analyst processes transaction notices, prepares payment instructions, supports investment closings and lifecycle events, and ensures data integrity in BCI's financial systems under the guidance of more senior team members.
This is an 18-month fixed-term position that provides broad exposure to Private Equity Finance Operations and the investment lifecycle, applying an accounting and finance foundation to the team's evolving use of data, technology, and AI.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH The Private Equity department manages a diverse global portfolio of approximately $36 billion in global private equity investments comprising of fund, direct and co-investments. Portfolio growth over the coming years will be driven by an increased emphasis on direct investment, strong partner relationships and actively creating value from the portfolio to deliver superior returns for our clients.
Our department currently consists of ~65 professionals spanning offices located in Victoria, London and New York City, organized into six sub-teams: Direct Investments, Fund Investments, Venture & Growth, Investment Process, Reporting & Analytics, and Operations.

Investments team can be further broken down into six sector-focused teams that cover the Financial and Business Services, Consumer, Healthcare, Industrials, Technology, Media & Communications and Capital Solutions.
WHAT YOU BRING
Must have:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Economics
- 1+ years of experience in a relevant discipline, including internship or co-op experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and an aptitude for adopting data and AI-enabled tools
- Detail-oriented, with a consistent, high level of accuracy across recurring transaction and reconciliation tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze issues and propose practical solutions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize fluctuating workloads
- Curiosity about processes with willingness to question and suggest improvements
- Strong planning and organizational skills with flexibility in adapting to changing assignments
- Strong interest in private equity finance and investment operations
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively
- Ability to follow structured processes and workflows with precision
Preferred:
- Degree specialization or internship experience in accounting or finance
- Experience in asset management or private equity finance and operations considered a valuable asset
- Understanding of private equity fund structures
- Familiarity with financial systems, reporting tools, and AI-enabled technologies
- Commitment to continued professional development in accounting and finance
- Fundamental understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Processes capital call and distribution notices and accounting allocations to the book of record in a timely and accurate manner
- Prepares instructions for financial payments and receipts to/from external managers and ensures compliance with contractual obligations
- Reconciles transactions across systems, investigates and resolves discrepancies
- Supports the reconciliation of unfunded and total commitments in alignment with SOC1 requirements
- Supports investment closings and lifecycle events under the guidance of senior team members
- Coordinates monthly fee payments, allocates expenses, and processes client distributions
- Monitors shared email inboxes, responds to or redirects requests as required, and performs invoicing
- Drives document tracking and maintains policies and procedures documentation
- Adheres to SOC1 report requirements in day-to-day activities
- Contributes to the team's AI, automation, and process optimization initiatives
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This role will be based in our headquarters in downtown Victoria, BC. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week.
SALARY RANGE The annualized salary range for this Victoria based role is CAD $78,000 - $89,000.
