Founded in 2004, JDG (Janks Design Group) is an award-winning full-service Vancouver based boutique interior design studio dedicated to creating well planned and creative unique projects that are tailored to each entity. JDG approaches each project individually and develops the perfect story for that project while ensuring we incorporate project budgets and timeframes into the process. Qualities Expected from a Junior Designer:
JDG is looking for a Junior Interior Designer who is curious, motivated, detail-oriented, and excited to grow within a collaborative design studio. This role is suited to someone who brings a strong design sensibility, developing technical skills, and a willingness to jump in, ask questions, and contribute throughout all phases of a project.
The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in producing thoughtful, well-executed work, communicates clearly, stays organized, and is comfortable balancing creativity with the technical and practical requirements of bringing a design to life.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp, with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant design and project management software.
- Creative and innovative approach to design and problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and clearly communicate design concepts through renderings, mood boards, sketches, and presentations.
- Collaborative team player who is receptive to direction and feedback while comfortable contributing ideas.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Adaptable and able to respond effectively to evolving project requirements and priorities.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provide design and project support to Lead Designers and Project Managers throughout all phases of the project process.
- Assist in the development of design concepts, including sourcing imagery, preparing mood boards, material boards, renderings, and client presentations.
- Assist with space planning and design development based on project programming, client requirements, and established design direction.
- Produce and update drawings, details, elevations, schedules,
and other project documentation as required.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project information for accuracy, consistency, and coordination.
- Research and source materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment; order samples and maintain the studio sample library.
- Assist with permit document gathering and coordination
- Attend site visits as required and prepare site visit reports under the direction of the Lead Designer or Project Manager.
- Record meeting minutes, maintain project schedules, and assist with project documentation and organization.
- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors as appropriate to the role.
- Support the team in resolving design and coordination issues as they arise throughout the project.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with studio standards and procedures.
- Continually adapt to project needs and priorities as they evolve.
