Kitchen Lease Opportunity Royal Canadian Legion Tecumseh Branch 261
Mission Statement Royal Canadian Legion Branch 261 proudly upholds the mission of the Royal Canadian Legion: To serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country.
Legion Branch 261 invites qualified individuals or businesses to submit proposals for leasing and operating the branch kitchen. Our goal is to enhance food service for members, guests, and the wider community while fostering local entrepreneurship and supporting Legion-hosted events.
Scope of Lease The successful applicant will be granted rights to operate the Legion Branch 261 kitchen under a lease agreement. The lease includes access to existing kitchen equipment and designated storage areas, pending inspection and inventory verification.
Key Responsibilities The leaseholder will be expected to:
- Maintain full compliance with all relevant health, safety, and food-handling regulations.
- Provide consistent food service during scheduled Legion hours, special events, and other designated activities.
- Excel in catering celebrations of life, special events, and banquets hosted by the Legion and its members.
- Coordinate with Legion staff on scheduling, menu planning, and maintenance of the kitchen facilities.
- Secure and maintain appropriate liability and business insurance.
- Partner with Branch 261 officers to create a vibrant and innovative dining experience, aligning with the evolving needs of the membership and community
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback, adapting to change, and implementing new ideas for service, events, or culinary offerings.
Eligibility Criteria Ideal candidates should demonstrate:
- Experience in food service, catering, or restaurant operations.
- A valid business license and applicable certifications.
- Strong community ties and/or professional references.
- A solid business and staffing plan, including sample menus and pricing concepts.
- A proven record of innovation or a stated willingness to collaborate and grow alongside Branch 261.
Submission Requirements All applicants must submit:
- A cover letter detailing their interest and background.
- A comprehensive business and operations proposal.
- A proposed menu, including sample pricing, suggested daily specials, and offerings for holidays or special events.
- A schedule of standard hours of operation.
- Copies of relevant health and safety certifications.
- Proof of insurance (or letter of intent to acquire appropriate coverage).
- At least two skilled or community-based references.
Timeline and Term
- Tender Open Date: Aug 24, 2026
- Tender Close Date: Sep 15. 2026 5pm
- Lease Term: 1 year, with the option to renew after a review at the end of the lease term.
Evaluation Process: The Branch Kitchen and Hall Committee will assess applications and recommend to Branch 261 General Membership based on:
- Operational and financial feasibility.
- Experience and alignment with Legion values.
- Commitment to food quality, cleanliness, and community engagement.
- Vision for innovation and demonstrated willingness to grow in partnership with the Branch.
