About The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established Lumber & Building Materials operation serving professional contractors, builders, and retail customers. They are seeking a customer-focused Counter Salesperson to deliver knowledgeable, consultative service and support day-to-day sales operations at the branch level.

This role is ideal for someone who understands building materials, enjoys solving construction-related challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers promptly and assess needs using consultative, open-ended questioning
- Provide expert product guidance on lumber and building materials, including uses, advantages, and limitations
- Prepare accurate pricing, quotations, and material estimates
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pricing, inventory, and surplus stock
- Process special orders and coordinate with suppliers for non-stock items
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to support material take-offs
- Assist customers in resolving building challenges and product-related concerns




- Handle inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently
- Maintain confidentiality of store and customer records
- Follow all provincial and federal safety regulations and report hazards as required
- Support additional duties as assigned by management

The Successful Candidate Will Have

High school diploma or equivalent

Retail Or Building Supply Experience Preferred

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and mathematical skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Knowledge of local building codes and permit requirements is considered an asset
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong willingness to learn and develop professionally

Reporting To

Store Manager or Dealer-Owner
