We are currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented Manufacturing Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to our Manufacturing department.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a combination of administrative work, coordination and interaction with a busy manufacturing operation.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager and working closely with the Manufacturing Planning & Continuous Improvement Manager, the Manufacturing Assistant supports the day-to-day administration and coordination of activities within the machine shop and related production areas.
The successful candidate will help keep manufacturing activities organized and moving efficiently by providing administrative support, maintaining documentation, coordinating meetings and interviews, assisting with manufacturing job documentation and supporting other operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities The Manufacturing Assistant will be responsible for duties including:
· Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Manufacturing department
· Support the Manufacturing Manager and Manufacturing Planning & Continuous Improvement Manager with departmental activities and priorities
· Perform accurate data entry and maintain manufacturing records and documentation
· Print, prepare and distribute manufacturing job documentation
· Assist with the coordination and tracking of manufacturing-related paperwork
· Schedule interviews for Manufacturing department positions
· Coordinate meeting arrangements and prepare and distribute meeting minutes
· Assist with manufacturing outsource requirements and related documentation, as required
· Communicate and coordinate with employees, supervisors and other departments as required
· Assist with maintaining organized electronic and paper manufacturing records
· Provide reception coverage during receptionist absences
· Support departmental projects and continuous-improvement initiatives
· Perform other related administrative and operational duties as assigned
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who brings:
· Previous administrative, office or coordination experience
· Working knowledge of general office procedures
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach when working with employees at all levels
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
· Strong commitment to teamwork, integrity and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications The following would be considered assets:
· Previous administrative experience in a manufacturing, machining, industrial or production environment
· Experience working with manufacturing documentation or production work orders
· Experience with Epicor
· Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
· Experience supporting supervisors, managers or production teams
Manufacturing experience is an asset but is not required for a candidate with strong administrative skills and the ability to learn our manufacturing processes.

You need to be someone who is organized, dependable and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. You should be able to keep track of details, follow up on outstanding items, communicate effectively with different departments and shift priorities when production requirements change.
This position would be well suited to an experienced Administrative Assistant, Manufacturing Administrator, Production Assistant, Operations Assistant or Production Coordinator who is interested in building a career in manufacturing operations.
