Mechanical Nuclear Systems / Hydraulic Systems Engineer profile, particularly someone with experience in nuclear island auxiliary systems, piping, fluid systems, and ASME Section III.
Systems to include in the requirement
Nuclear Island Hydraulic / Mechanical Systems:
- Boron Injection System (BIS) – reactor shutdown/safety-related borated water injection.
- IC Pools Cooling & Cleanup System – cooling and purification of the relevant inventory/pools.
- Reactor Water Cleanup System (RWCU) – reactor water purification, filtration, heat removal and associated piping.
- Fuel Pool Cooling & Cleanup System (FPCCS) – spent fuel pool cooling, filtration and cleanup.
Ideal candidate profile The candidate should have:
- Mechanical Engineering background.
- Strong piping analysis / pipe stress analysis experience.
- Experience with nuclear mechanical systems and hydraulic/fluid systems.
- ASME Section III – mandatory.
- Strong understanding of Class 3 piping / ASME Section III Subsection ND.
- P.Eng.
/ PEO – Ontario – mandatory if skilled responsibility/sign-off is required.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs;, piping drawings, equipment drawings, engineering calculations and design data.
- Ability to review engineering deliverables against applicable ASME codes and nuclear design requirements.
- Ability to identify deficiencies/non-compliances and recommend corrective design changes.
- Experience reviewing or certifying piping stress calculations, drawings and engineering documentation.
- Nuclear experience is preferred but not mandatory, provided the candidate has strong ASME Section III experience.
- Experience with Boron Injection, RWCU, Fuel Pool Cooling/Cleanup, IC Pool Cooling/Cleanup, or similar nuclear auxiliary/hydraulic systems is a strong advantage.
- Darlington / Ontario nuclear experience is preferred.
- Remote work is acceptable, with the ability to support the Toronto/Darlington project as required.
