Operations Engineer‑in‑Training

Position Overview

Our valued client, a key Oil and Gas Midstream company are seeking an Operations EIT to join their team on a long term contract basis. This is a 14 month contract term to cover a maternity leave (With potential to extend).

The Operations Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) supports the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of pipeline and facility assets. This role provides engineering assistance to field operations, contributes to small construction and modification projects, and helps ensure cost‑effective maintenance and operational execution. The Operations EIT works closely with operations, engineering, and field personnel to deliver projects and day‑to‑day activities efficiently and to standard.

Key Responsibilities

- Project scoping — identify and evaluate alternatives, prepare cost estimates, and recommend preferred solutions
- Stakeholder coordination — ensure operations, engineering, and field teams are aligned on proposed changes
- Field execution oversight — coordinate inspectors, contractors, and vendors during pipeline and facility work




- Technical support — provide engineering expertise for equipment, operations, and maintenance activities
- Operational response — respond to field, management, and technical requests
- Management of Change — coordinate and manage small MOC projects, including documentation and execution
- Support safe, reliable operation of pipeline systems, pump stations, metering equipment, tanks, and related facilities

Qualifications & Experience

- Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred)
- Registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training with APEGA; APEGS registration an asset
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant industry experience (pipeline, facilities, midstream, or operations)
- Demonstrated project management capability: planning, cost tracking, scope control, reporting
- Knowledge of applicable operating standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., CSA Z662)
- Robust organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Self‑driven with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
