Part Time Independent Living Assistant
LOCATION: TORONTO WEST
Toronto West boundaries:
- West - Highway 27

Travel from one client booking to the next is required & must be available to work the following weekly schedule totaling 19.5 hours:

Position Summary:
The Independent Living Assistant is responsible for delivering front-line support services as requested or directed by clients and as set out in each client's service contract, ensuring that client's needs are met safely, efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications:
- Completed a PSW Program that meets the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association and must be 600 hours in duration (including class time and practical experience time). This also includes a PSW Program from an Adult and Continuing Education School Board.
- 1-year PSW experience gained in the physical disabilities sector
- Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA)
membership would be considered an asset
- Proof of First Aid and CPR certificate
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Person)
Skills:
- Ability to meet the support care needs, as directed by the client
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- A physical requirement to be able to transfer clients
- Friendly and professional manner
- Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Effective problem solving and conflict management skills
- Valuable Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (Word, Outlook)
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding/knowledge of PACE policies & procedures
- Knowledge of worker responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
As per “Appendix A” of the SEIU Collective Agreement the hourly rate for the Independent Living Assistant (part-time), including $0.30/hour in lieu of benefits, is:
Start Rate: $21.356
After Probation: $22.651
After 1Year: $23.736
