About Us

Stairway Studio is a jewellery school and creative community in downtown Victoria. We offer silversmithing courses and workshops for a range of skill levels, along with open bench access, jewellery-making supplies, and specialty workshops taught by local and visiting instructors.

We’re looking for a creative and motivated Social Media & Marketing Assistant to help us strengthen our online presence, create engaging content, and reach new audiences.

This is a small part-time position of approximately 5 hours per week, with a combination of in-studio content creation and flexible marketing work.

What You’ll Be DoingSocial Media & Content Creation

This will be the main focus of the position.

- Create and publish content for Instagram and Facebook, including posts, Reels, and Stories.
- Photograph and film classes, workshops, student work, instructors, and studio events.
- Edit short-form videos and turn studio footage into engaging social media content.
- Plan content and maintain a consistent posting schedule.
- Write captions and select appropriate keywords, hashtags, locations, and other elements to improve reach.
- Stay current with Instagram and Facebook trends, algorithm changes, and best practices.
- Find creative ways to reach new audiences while keeping content authentic to the studio.
- Monitor engagement and respond to what is performing well.

Social Media Strategy & Growth

- Help develop strategies to increase reach, engagement, and awareness of Stairway Studio.
- Use social media insights and analytics to understand which content performs best.
- Research trends, keywords, SEO,



local search opportunities, and audience behaviour.
- Suggest and test new content ideas, formats, and approaches.
- Help us reach people beyond our existing followers and local jewellery community.

Marketing & Design

- Create promotional graphics for courses, workshops, events, and announcements using Canva or similar software.
- Assist with newsletters, promotional campaigns, and basic website updates.
- Help promote new courses and workshops across appropriate online channels.

Research & Special Projects

- Research local advertising opportunities, event listings, community partnerships, and other ways to increase awareness of the studio.
- Research grants, sponsorships, or promotional opportunities when relevant.
- Assist with occasional marketing and communications projects.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong knowledge of Instagram and Facebook, particularly Reels and short-form video.
- Experience creating, filming, and editing social media content.
- Understanding of social media algorithms, reach, engagement, keywords, SEO, and current best practices.
- Experience with Canva or similar design software.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to write engaging, natural social media copy.
- A good visual eye for photography, video, and design.
- Comfortable reviewing social media analytics and using them to improve future content.
- Able to work independently, take initiative, and bring forward new ideas.
- Organized, reliable, and able to make positive use of a limited number of weekly hours.
- Interest in jewellery, art, design, education, or creative small businesses is an asset.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
