The ideal candidate is currently working as a Parts Manager or Assistant Parts Manager and has already demonstrated the ability to lead staff, manage department performance, and build strong working relationships throughout a dealership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Parts Department team, including assigning work, setting expectations, monitoring performance, and addressing issues as they arise.
- Oversee day-to-day parts department operations, ensuring accurate and timely parts ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution.
- Work closely with Service, Sales, Technicians, and other dealership departments to ensure parts are available when required and workflow remains efficient.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering processes, special orders, returns, warranties, and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor department performance, profitability, gross margins, expenses, and overall productivity.
- Maintain strong relationships with OEM suppliers, vendors, and customers.
- Ensure manufacturer policies, dealership procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Identify opportunities to improve department processes, efficiency, customer service, and profitability.
- Support a positive team environment through clear communication, accountability, and hands-on leadership.
- Handle customer and internal concerns professionally and ensure issues are resolved quickly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Parts Department.
Qualifications
- Current or recent experience as a Parts Manager, Assistant Parts Manager,
or similar dealership parts leadership role.
- Proven experience managing and developing staff in an automotive dealership environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Experience working closely with Service, Technicians, Sales, and dealership management.
- Strong understanding of automotive parts operations, inventory management, ordering, and manufacturer processes.
- GM dealership experience is strongly preferred, with a solid understanding of GM’s manufacturer-side workflow and processes.
- Ford or Chrysler/Stellantis dealership experience will also be considered; candidates should be comfortable learning GM-specific systems and procedures.
- Import dealership experience may be considered for candidates who have demonstrated the ability to manage larger teams and higher-volume operations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dealership workplace.
- Strong customer service and team leadership abilities.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
This position is heavily focused on people leadership. The successful candidate needs more than strong parts knowledge — they must be able to lead a team, communicate expectations, hold people accountable, and work effectively with other dealership departments.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can step into an established Parts Department, earn the team’s respect, and create a well-organized, collaborative, and productive setting.
