Working under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will deliver individualized therapy activities that help children build independence, confidence, and practical everyday skills.

Services may be provided in:

- An Inclusion Health clinic or another designated on-site location.
- Children’s homes and community environments.
- Schools, childcare centres, and other authorized service settings.
- A combination of clinic-based and community-based locations.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant Responsibilities

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant, Therapy Assistant, or Rehabilitation Assistant, you will:

- Implement individualized occupational therapy activities developed by a supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Support children during one-to-one therapy sessions in clinic, home, school, childcare, and community settings.
- Assist with fine motor development, handwriting, visual-motor coordination, and hand skills.
- Support sensory processing, emotional regulation, attention, and participation in daily routines.
- Facilitate play-based learning, social participation, and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Help children practise dressing, feeding, hygiene,



and other daily living skills.
- Support children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, learning differences, sensory needs, and physical disabilities.
- Prepare therapy materials and organize treatment spaces.
- Observe and document client participation, progress, and responses to therapy activities.
- Communicate relevant observations or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Reinforce home-program activities and caregiver strategies as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and electronic progress notes.
- Communicate professionally with children, families, caregivers, educators, and authorized care-team members.
- Follow organizational requirements concerning confidentiality, privacy, child safety, infection prevention, and qualified boundaries.
- Participate in orientation, supervision, training, and team meetings.

This is a delegated support position. Occupational Therapy Assistants do not independently assess clients, diagnose conditions, establish treatment plans, or represent themselves as Occupational Therapists.

Qualifications and Requirements

We encourage applications from candidates with:
- An Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant diploma, OTA/PTA diploma, Rehabilitation Assistant diploma, or comparable training.
- Experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Therapy Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant, Pediatric Therapy Assistant, or similar child-development support professional.
- Experience working with children in pediatric therapy, rehabilitation, disability support, childcare, educational settings, or community programs.
- Familiarity with child development, sensory regulation, play-based learning, and functional skill development.
- Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, learning differences, or physical support needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to follow clinical direction and work independently within delegated responsibilities.
- Comfort using electronic charting systems and completing timely documentation.
- A compassionate, dependable, and family-centred approach.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.




- A criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening, or willingness to complete applicable screening before starting.
- Current first aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification, is an asset.

Community-based positions: A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required. On-site positions: A driver’s licence and personal vehicle may not be required.
