PIANO ACCOMPANIST (Vancouver)

Saint James Music Academy (SJMA) seeks a passionate Piano Accompanist for our Senior Choir, to join our team of committed staff, music teachers and volunteers who provide life-changing opportunities to children and youth in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

A grassroots charity since our founding in 2007, SJMA enjoys a wide range of support from friends and neighbours, arts organizations, local business, and religious institutions. We thrive on the energy and shared success of many hands coming together for the narrow but beautiful focus of this work: making high quality music education - and all of the gifts that music brings - available to kids who wouldn't otherwise have the chance to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are

A skilled pianist who can respond nimbly and sensitively to performance elements such as tempo, phrasing, and interpretation, while collaborating with our Senior Choir teacher during scheduled Choir classes at the Academy and for performances

Team-oriented by nature and passionate about fostering life-changing opportunities through music for youth ages 12–18

high-quality music education to children and youth with diverse backgrounds and needs. Deeply rooted in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, our commitment is to accessibility, community, and artistic excellence.

STARTING COMPENSATION RANGE

48.08 + 4% vacation pay (total $50.00 hour)

Location: 303 East Cordova Street, V6A 1L4

Hours / Days

Mondays & Wednesdays

3:45pm - 6:15pm (2.5 hours per day / 5 hours per week, plus performances)

Mid Sept 2026 - Mid June 2027

The work schedule approximately follows the VSB school schedule, therefore there are no classes when the school is closed (on public holidays, Hallowe'en, VSB Pro-D Days, Winter Break and Spring Break).
