Our large mining client is looking for an early-career Project Controls Coordinator to join its Vancouver-based project team supporting a major mine life extension project.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop their career within project controls, cost management, engineering, or major capital project delivery.
The successful candidate will work alongside and support a team of experienced Senior Cost Control Specialists. You will gain hands-on exposure to cost tracking, project reporting, scheduling, procurement, engineering, construction, and change management within a major mining project environment.
This position is intentionally designed as a development opportunity. Recent graduates and candidates with approximately one to two years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
The role is based in Vancouver, BC and operates on a traditional Monday to Friday schedule with a combination of office and work-from-home days.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist Senior Cost Control Specialists with project cost tracking, reporting, and general project controls activities.
- Monitor and record project expenditures against established budgets.
- Input and maintain contractor cost and progress information within project cost management systems.
- Help prepare regular cost reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and project updates.
- Track project progress, quantities, milestones, and other project information.
- Assist with identifying and documenting cost or schedule variances.
- Support basic change management and project forecasting activities.
- Review project information to develop an understanding of the relationship between cost, schedule, and project progress.
- Work with Procurement and Contracts teams to understand commitments, purchase orders, contracts, and project purchasing activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams to better understand project scope, design, and execution.
- Gain exposure to environmental, regulatory, and community considerations associated with major mining projects.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and supporting records.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with follow-up actions and reporting.
- Follow established safety, environmental, and project procedures.
Who We're Looking For This role is best suited to someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in learning how large engineering and construction projects are planned, controlled, and delivered.

Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or related education in engineering, construction management, business, finance, economics, project management, or a related discipline.
- Recent graduates through candidates with approximately one to two years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
- Previous exposure to engineering, construction, mining, infrastructure, EPC, EPCM, or other project environments would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and project data.
- Positive organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills or a genuine interest in developing advanced Excel capabilities.
- Comfortable preparing reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively within a project team.
- Curious, adaptable, and motivated to learn.
- Able to work independently while also taking direction from senior team members.
Nice to Have Exposure to any of the following would be considered an asset, but is not required:
- Project cost control
- Project scheduling
- Progress tracking
- Forecasting or budgeting
- Power BI
- Oracle Unifier or similar project management systems
- Construction or engineering projects
- Mining or natural resources
