Project Manager / Estimator — Cold Formed Steel Framing & Drywall
Location: [City, Province/State]
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $60,000–$75,000 per year, depending on experience
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator with a strong background in Cold Formed Steel (CFS) framing and drywall construction.
This is a hands-on position responsible for managing projects from estimating and contract award through procurement, site coordination, change orders, cost control, and project completion.
Education Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or a related construction/engineering field is required.
- A diploma or degree from a recognized college or university is preferred.
- Additional training or education in construction estimating, project management, or building science is considered an asset.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Manage CFS framing and drywall projects from contract award through completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate with general contractors, clients, site supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate project requirements with site teams and field crews.
- Monitor project progress, labor, materials, schedules, and costs.
- Identify and resolve project issues.
- Track project budgets and profitability.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to contract requirements.
Estimating & Bidding
- Review architectural, structural, and construction drawings and specifications.
- Prepare detailed CFS framing and drywall takeoffs.
- Prepare labor and material estimates.
- Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare and submit project bids and quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.
- Prepare estimates for additions, revisions, and changes to project scope.
Change Orders
- Review revised drawings, RFIs, site conditions, and client requests.
- Prepare accurate pricing for change orders and additional work.
- Calculate additional labor, materials, and other project costs.
- Submit and track change-order quotations and approvals.
- Coordinate approved changes with the site team.
Material Procurement
- Determine project material requirements.
- Place and manage material orders with suppliers.
- Obtain pricing and confirm material availability and lead times.
- Coordinate deliveries with project sites.
- Monitor material usage and identify shortages.
- Coordinate returns, replacements, and damaged or incorrect materials.
- Track purchase orders and material costs against project budgets.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with construction estimating and project management software.
- STACK — digital takeoffs and estimating.
- PlanSwift — quantity takeoffs and estimating.
- BuildTrend — project management, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
- Bluebeam Revu — drawing review, measurements, takeoffs, and document management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings using digital plan software.
- Ability to organize project documents, estimates, purchase orders, change orders, schedules, and cost reports electronically.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn recent construction technology and software.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of construction project management experience.
- Proven experience managing projects from start to finish.
- CFS framing and drywall construction experience required.
- Strong construction estimating and quantity takeoff experience.
- Experience pricing and managing change orders.
- Experience coordinating job sites, field crews, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Experience ordering and coordinating construction materials.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, budgets, labor, and material costs.
- Experience with construction estimating and project management software.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Valid driver's license is an asset.

Estimate → Contract Award → Scheduling → Procurement → Site Coordination → Change Orders → Cost Control → Completion The successful candidate will take ownership of projects, communicate effectively with clients and contractors, coordinate with field crews, solve problems, manage material procurement, and maintain control of project costs and schedules.
Compensation
$60,000–$75,000 per year, depending on experience.
Final compensation will be based on education, project management experience, CFS/drywall knowledge, estimating ability, technical skills, and overall qualifications.
