About Ballance Design

Ballance Design engineers, fabricates, and installs modular and container-based buildings from our shop in Oakville. Our work spans permanent commercial, institutional, and residential construction as well as national brand activations, retail display programs, and event builds that ship, install, tour, and return to our warehouse.

We are a small, senior team, and everything happens in-house. What you manage here gets built: drawn in our studio, welded in our shop, and craned onto a site or rolled into a venue weeks later by our own crews and install partners. You will make the calls that get it there. Install dates don't move here, and neither do we.

The Role

We are hiring a Project Manager to own delivery from the moment Sales hands a project over through to final closeout. You will be the single point of accountability for schedule, budget, scope, and client communication: the person who always knows where every project stands and what happens next.

Your portfolio will mix construction projects with event and brand-activation work: multi-city installation tours, tight venue windows, overnight load-ins, and kit refurbishment between deployments. Construction discipline and event tempo, in the same job.

This is a full-time hybrid role based at our Oakville shop: 4 days in office, 1 flexible. You wll work day to day alongside our Shop Foreman, Design Lead, and fellow Project Managers, and report to the President.

What You Will Own

Project delivery, end to end.



Take signed work from Sales and drive it through design, engineering,

procurement, fabrication, transport, installation, and closeout.

Schedule, budget, and scope. Build and hold the project schedule. Track committed versus actual cost and flag margin risk early. Issue and track change orders, RFIs, and submittals, and secure written client approval before work proceeds.

Production planning. Run our weekly production planning and look-ahead meetings. Keep the shop loaded with explicit, buildable, fully specified work, with long-lead material identified and ordered ahead of the build.

Install and execution. Own site and venue logistics: transport, craning, permits, site services, trades,

venue access, and load-in/load-out windows. Confirm every install package is complete before a unit leaves the yard, and run multi-stop schedules for touring programs.

Client communication and closeout. Sales owns the relationship; you own the delivery promise. Proactive, specific updates on timeline, changes, and risk, through to deficiency lists, handover, warranty handoff, and a post-project review that improves the next one.

What You Bring

- 3+ years managing projects in construction, fabrication, manufacturing, or event/exhibit production




- Confidence reading shop drawings, architectural and structural drawings, and specifications
- Working knowledge of commercial project mechanics: progress billing, holdbacks, change orders,

submittals
- Comfort with event-style delivery: fixed dates that don't move, compressed install windows, and coordination with venues, brand teams, or agencies
- Fluency with project management software (Procore, Monday, Asana, ClickUp, MS Project, or similar), plus real comfort adopting new tools; we run our own internal platform and you will help shape it
- Strong written communication: updates and documentation that hold up when a project is reviewed months later
- The organizational discipline to carry 6 to 10 active projects at once without losing detail
- Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel to project and event sites (primarily southern Ontario,

occasional overnight)

Considered an Asset

- Modular, prefab, container conversion, or steel fabrication background
- Experiential marketing (XM), exhibit, or event production agency experience
- Any experience working under a general contractor on commercial sites (CCDC contracts, site meetings, trade coordination) is a bonus, not a requirement
- Current health and safety certifications (Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid)
- Some exposure to the Ontario Building Code or CSA A277 modular certification is a bonus; we will teach you the rest To Apply
