We're Hiring: Renovation & Finishing Specialist

Stay at Home Elevating & Renovations is a growing general contracting company proudly serving Victoria and surrounding areas. We specialize in residential renovations, accessibility upgrades, home elevator preparation, barrier-free modifications, and custom construction projects that help people live safely and independently in their homes.

We're looking for a dependable, skilled, and versatile Renovation & Finishing Specialist to join our team in a supportive, friendly work environment where every day brings something different.

This is a hands-on position for someone with experience across multiple areas of residential renovations, with particularly strong skills in painting, drywall finishing, patching and repairs, trim, doors, and general finishing work.

Position Overview

As a Renovation & Finishing Specialist, you will work alongside our Project Manager and other team members to complete residential renovations, accessibility modifications, home repairs, and construction work associated with the installation of stairlifts, platform lifts, and home elevators.

A significant part of this role involves the finishing and detail work required to bring a project to completion. This may include drywall installation and repair, taping and mudding, sanding, painting, trim, baseboards, doors, patching, touch-ups, and other finishing work.

You will also assist with general renovation and construction work such as minor framing, bathroom renovations, flooring, doorway modifications, ramps, decks, fencing, and preparation work for accessibility equipment.

Our projects vary considerably in size and scope. Some days may involve completing drywall repairs and painting following an installation, while others may involve working on a bathroom renovation, widening a doorway, installing trim, building a ramp, completing general home repairs, or assisting with a larger renovation.

We're not necessarily looking for someone who is an expert in every trade. We're looking for a well-rounded renovation professional who has strong finishing skills, good construction knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a willingness to take on a variety of work.

Responsibilities

- Perform a wide variety of residential renovation, repair, accessibility, and finishing work.
- Complete drywall installation, repairs, patching, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing.
- Complete interior and exterior painting, including preparation, cutting, rolling, touch-ups, and repairs.




- Install and repair baseboards, casing, trim, doors, hardware, and other finishing components.
- Complete minor framing, carpentry, and general construction work as required.
- Repair walls and ceilings following construction work or accessibility equipment installations.
- Assist with kitchen and bathroom renovations, including barrier-free and accessibility modifications.
- Install grab bars, handrails, and other accessibility features.
- Assist with doorway widening and other modifications to improve accessibility within clients' homes.
- Complete preparation and finishing work associated with stairlift, platform lift, and home elevator installations.
- Assist with flooring, cabinetry, shelving, and other general renovation work as required.
- Assist with ramps, decks, fencing, sheds, and other exterior projects.
- Read and follow project plans, drawings, work orders, and instructions.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems on site and communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
- Protect clients' homes, furnishings, and belongings while work is being completed.
- Assist with material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and other tasks required to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Provide professional, respectful, and courteous service when interacting with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and coworkers.

Key Qualifications & Expectations
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on residential renovation, construction, maintenance, or similar experience preferred.
- Strong drywall finishing skills, including taping, mudding, sanding, patching, and repairs.
- Strong painting skills, including preparation and finishing.
- Experience installing and finishing trim, baseboards, casing, and doors.
- General carpentry and residential renovation experience.
- Comfortable completing repairs and finishing work in existing and occupied homes.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Experience with bathroom renovations, flooring, framing, cabinetry, or exterior construction is considered an asset.
- Accessibility renovation experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing positively as part of a team.

- Physically capable of performing the demands of construction work, including lifting, carrying materials, climbing ladders, and using power tools.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check is considered an asset.
