Become a Research & Development Associate with the University of Toronto in a adaptable hybrid role. Engage in groundbreaking research analyzing Canadian political donations and lobbying data. The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information invites applications for a part-time Research & Development Associate.
You will closely work with the Investigative Journalism Foundation as part of a dynamic project led by Professor Rohan Alexander. This role offers 15-20 hours of paid work weekly from September to April, with possibilities for wage increases based on your contributions. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the clerical work for the Open by Default project
- Manage data and document submissions efficiently
- Conduct reviews of algorithm-generated matches
- Write reports detailing dataset creation and workflows
- Collaborate with IJF team and contribute to public-interest journalism Requirements:
- Excellent attention to detail and process simplification skills
- Previous data handling experience an asset
- Familiarity with Python advantageous
- Available for in-person work on Mondays or Wednesdays
- Commitment to enhancing transparency in Canadian democracy Contribute to vital research efforts at the University of Toronto that impact journalism and politics in Canada.
