Job Opening: Resource Assistant
Do you have a positive and welcoming attitude, strong attention to detail, organizational and administrative skills and a passion for work with meaning? The Diocese of Huron (located in London) is seeking a Receptionist.
Must be welcoming, flexible, tactful, and a well-organized team player. The ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and maturity is important; your professional, and confidential demeanor will ensure that visitors and inquirers are handled professionally.
Primary Responsibility: To provide general office assistance across departments. The role is part of a team environment at Church House, responsible for reception, information tracking, database updates, preparation for meetings, and tax receipting.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Our welcoming person at reception. Primary responsibility to receive incoming calls, direct appropriately or handle as able, and greet all visitors to the Synod office.
- Maintain Raiser’s Edge database and issue tax receipts to donors
- Collect, enter and consolidate parish annual financial returns
- Responsible for the secure processing and tracking of police record checks
- Carry out routine minor preventive maintenance procedures on postage, printing and shredding equipment, and coordinate vendor maintenance support as required.
- Receive and distribute all incoming mail and courier packages
- Maintain and order office supply inventory
- Support event planning as needed
- Perform other duties related to this position as required or as requested and coordinated through the Director of Human Resources
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
- Time management skills to be able to prioritize activities, especially when there is a high volume of tasks
- Positive attitude for greeting customers and clients in a friendly manner upon arrival to the office or through the phone
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Strong organizational skills
- Administrative skills to be able to use computer programs including Microsoft Office, Raisers’ Edge database is an asset
- Flexibility to be able to move between activities and duties quickly if priorities change
