Location: 34 Clock Tower Road, Toronto, ON
Position: Full-Time, General Manager
Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year
Additional Compensation: Potential performance-based bonus

Overview iQ is looking for an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead our Shops at Don Mills location.
The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the restaurant. This includes leading and developing the team while taking ownership of sales, labour, inventory, COGS, waste, guest experience, food quality, cleanliness and daily operational execution.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We are looking for someone who understands both the people and financial sides of running a successful restaurant, takes ownership of results and is comfortable identifying problems and driving solutions.
What You’ll OwnTeam Leadership + Development
- Recruit, train, coach and develop a strong and reliable team.
- Establish explicit expectations and accountability across the restaurant.
- Build and manage schedules based on sales projections and operational needs.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and performance management.
- Develop team members and create a positive, high-performing culture.
- Ensure the right people are deployed in the right positions throughout the day.
Restaurant Operations
- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation and overall performance of the location.
- Lead from the floor during peak periods and support the team where needed.
- Maintain iQ standards for food quality, portioning, presentation, speed and accuracy.
- Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized and guest-ready at all times.
- Work closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure strong communication and execution between FOH and BOH.
- Ensure opening, closing, food safety and operational procedures are consistently followed.
- Identify operational issues quickly and take corrective action.
Financial Performance + Cost Control
- Own the location’s inventory process and ensure inventories are completed accurately and on time.
- Own COGS performance and understand the factors driving actual versus theoretical food cost.
- Review inventory variances, investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Manage waste through appropriate prep levels, pars, portioning, ordering and product controls.
- Ensure ordering and receiving practices support accurate inventory and appropriate stock levels.
- Manage labour through forecasting, scheduling, deployment and real-time adjustments based on sales.
- Regularly review sales, labour, COGS, waste, inventory and other key performance indicators.
- Work with the Kitchen Manager to maintain recipe, portion, prep and inventory standards.
- Identify performance gaps and follow through on corrective actions until results improve.
- Take ownership of the location’s overall profitability and controllable operating performance.
The existing iQ GM similarly places responsibility on the GM to strategically manage schedules and partner with the Kitchen Manager to achieve food-cost, labour-cost and order-accuracy targets.
Guest Experience
- Set the standard for friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service.
- Regularly engage with guests and respond quickly and professionally to concerns.
- Coach the team on hospitality, product knowledge and service standards.
- Ensure food quality, accuracy, speed and presentation consistently contribute to an excellent guest experience.
- Lead by example and create an environment where both the team and guests feel welcomed.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous management experience in a restaurant, hospitality or high-volume food-service environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, COGS, waste and labour control.
- Comfortable reviewing restaurant financial and operational KPIs and taking action based on results.
- Experience with forecasting, scheduling and managing labour against sales.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate and hold a team accountable.
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills and follow-through.
- Clear and professional communication.
- Hands-on leadership style and willingness to support the team during service.
- Strong understanding of food safety, cleanliness and restaurant standards.
- Guest-focused with high expectations for service and execution.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Positive, solution-oriented and comfortable taking accountability for results.

Compensation + Benefits
- $60,000–$70,000 annual salary, based on experience.

The existing GM employment package provides for a discretionary performance bonus based on performance metrics and company results, as well as eligibility for the employee benefits package following successful completion of probation.
