Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client service culture and in accordance with the established vision, values and strategic directions of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), performs administrative and clerical functions to support the Manager and other team members. Schedules, arranges and attends meetings to take minutes. Types various technical and non-technical documents, communications and reports using advanced word-processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
Compiles statistical information as needed. Prepares and implements administrative protocols for methods of operation. Assists with the recruitment and orientation of recent staff members. Liaises with the Staffing Resource Centre (SRC) to call in staff to fill vacancies resulting from vacations and various leaves of absence in accordance with applicable collective agreements.
Receives and processes vacation and other requests from staff and responds to written and verbal enquiries from staff regarding vacation accumulations and related items. Arranges for the ordering of departmental supplies and equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Grade 12, graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription and three (3) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to type at 60 w.p.m.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
