TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Controller to work on our clients’ large-scale project. This position is ideal for a project controls professional who thrives in a field-based environment and has a strong background in financial oversight, forecasting, contract administration support, and project performance reporting.

This is a long term contract position that requires working on site in Northern BC following a two weeks on/two weeks off rotational schedule.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, procurement, finance, and contractors to ensure cost transparency and reporting accuracy.
- Analyze cost variances, identify trends, and provide recommendations to mitigate financial risks.
- Coordinate month-end cost reporting, reconciliations, and financial close activities.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, actual costs, and projected final costs.
- Review and validate contractor invoices, progress claims, accruals, and expenditure documentation.
- Support project governance, audits, reporting requirements, and continuous improvement of cost control processes.
- Develop and maintain accurate cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial reporting updates.
- Oversee the financial performance of assigned construction work packages from initiation through completion.




- Maintain accurate records of approved changes and ensure forecasts and budgets reflect current project status.
- Preform additional tasks as required.

Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in project controls, cost management, or construction financial oversight.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale capital, industrial, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- A strong background in mining and processing plants projects is required.
- Proficiency with SAP is required .
- Experience with Prism / Contruent is highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project setting.
- Strong background in budget management, forecasting, cost reporting, and financial analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including analysis of large and complex datasets.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar contracts, commitments, and project expenditures.
