As Credit Risk Analyst / Senior Analyst you will join a growing team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance & Risk while also working closely with our Co-Founder & CEO. In this role you will own various credit risk, merchant risk, and operational initiatives that are critical to the company’s growth and performance.
We are looking for a highly analytical, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and is passionate about driving business growth and operational excellence. This is a dynamic, high visibility, role that will evolve with the business and no day will be the same. You’ll work on key projects that directly impact the company’s direction while building a well-rounded skillset along the way.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
- Run merchant underwriting and onboarding end-to-end, applying sound judgement to cases that fall outside of our standard underwriting criteria.
- Build on existing merchant underwriting and risk assessment to augment frameworks for better underwriting outcomes.
- Partner with new and existing merchants to develop tailored pricing proposals that balance competitiveness with risk-adjusted returns.
- Analyze loan book performance to identify emerging risks and opportunities; deliver actionable recommendations to enhance portfolio returns and mitigate losses.
- Provide analytical support and recommendations on our evolving consumer underwriting model by evaluating the use of new and existing data points to improve credit outcomes.
- Own and deliver monthly risk reporting to management that supports and drives strategic decision making and credit policy.
- Own and deliver weekly reports on merchant risk and portfolio health, providing actionable recommendations that balance origination volume and risk-adjusted returns.
- Work with management to support the design and launch of new credit products, supporting financial modeling, risk assessment, and go-to-market analysis and strategy.
- Leverage AI tools and automation to build new workflows and improve the efficiency and scalability of existing operations.
- Support the business on the implementation of new policies, procedures, or ad hoc projects and analysis as they may arise.
About You
- Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent in business, economics, or a related area.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in credit risk, underwriting, financial services advisory, or related areas. Bonus points if you’ve worked in a startup or fintech setting.
- AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to utilize artificial intelligence tools, in personal projects or professional settings, to streamline workflows, boost efficiency, or innovate solution building.
- Problem Solving & Technical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, ambiguous challenges both independently and collaboratively, backed by advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization software.
- Intellectual Curiosity & Adaptability: A natural appetite for continuous learning and a readiness to step outside your comfort zone to master new concepts.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Comfortable operating with autonomy in dynamic,
fast-paced environments, taking complete ownership over results even amidst ambiguity.
- Communication & Storytelling: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for translating complex data into compelling narrative insights.

This is a hybrid, full-time role based in our downtown Vancouver office. You will be required to work on-site three days per week.
Elective is committed to paying our team members fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. The estimated salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000. Your specific salary will be determined based on your job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and our internal assessment.
It is possible to join Elective at a salary above or below this range and this range does not include any discretionary bonuses or benefits. This range does not include benefits or the performance bonus, which typically runs up to 10% of salary. You'll continue to have conversations about your career development with your manager, and you'll see your compensation grow over time as you grow with us.
