Join Bear Creek Elementary as a Sign Language Interpreter, providing vital communication support for deaf and hard of hearing students. This role is temporary, ending January 31, 2028. As an Educational Sign Language Interpreter, you will work closely with teachers and students to facilitate effective communication.
You will prepare for lessons, participate in I.E.P. meetings, and help implement language development strategies. Strong fluency in American Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf culture are critical to your success in this cooperative environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret for various school functions, classes, and meetings
- Prepare by previewing educational materials and vocabulary
- Contribute to the I.E.P. team for student progress
- Assist with hearing equipment checks and troubleshooting
- Help prepare educational materials for Deaf students Requirements:
- Completion of a Sign Language Interpretation program
- Minimum one year of interpreting experience
- High fluency in ASL is essential
- Membership in WAVLI necessary
