Are you a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented emerging professional looking to gain valuable experience in project coordination and corporate operations? The Squamish Nation is seeking a Special Projects Intern to join X̱etx̱ítayus Ch'áwch'aw Corporate Services. Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Services, the Special Projects Intern provides direct support on administrative operations, project coordination, communications, research, and organizational initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic Indigenous government environment while contributing to projects that support organizational effectiveness and service excellence across the Nation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate who is eager to learn, develop professional skills, and contribute to meaningful work that supports the Squamish Nation community.

What You’ll Do

- Assist with planning, coordinating, and monitoring organizational projects and initiatives.
- Track project timelines, deliverables, milestones, and status updates.
- Conduct research and gather information to support project planning and decision-making.
- Support project-related communications, follow-up activities, and documentation management.
- Provide administrative support including scheduling, calendar management, and meeting coordination.
- Prepare meeting materials, presentations, reports, correspondence, and briefing documents.
- Maintain organized digital filing systems and accurate records.




- Record meeting notes and track action items to support timely follow-up.
- Coordinate meetings with internal departments, community partners, and external stakeholders.
- Assist with logistics for workshops, events, meetings, and special projects.
- Support communications, information sharing, and process improvement initiatives across departments.
- Handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

What We’re Looking For

- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a diploma, degree, or certificate program in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Project Management, Human Resources, Commerce, or a related field.
- Equivalent combinations of education and transferable experience may be considered.
- Previous administrative, customer service, volunteer, student leadership, or project coordination experience is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.




- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and develop in a rapid-paced professional environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, land, and people is considered an asset.
