Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Steel Fitter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing steel components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will contribute directly to the successful completion of large-scale steel structures, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project specifications.
Duties
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble steel components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG and TIG), plasma cutters, and press brake machines to cut, shape, and fit steel parts.
- Perform rigging and crane operations to lift and position heavy steel sections safely.
- Measure materials with calipers and perform basic math calculations to ensure precise fitment.
- Read schematics and mechanical drawings to guide assembly processes in office or in the shop.
- Conduct welding tasks, including MIG and TIG welding, adhering to safety standards and quality requirements.
- Assist in ductwork installation and assembly for construction or manufacturing projects.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Steel Fitter or in a similar role within manufacturing or construction environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machining tools.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings essential for accurate assembly.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques, crane operation, plasma cutting, press brake machines, and welding certifications (MIG/TIG).
- Ability to work with ductwork systems and perform basic math calculations accurately.
- Construction experience preferred; familiarity with schematics and assembly processes is a plus.
- Valid forklift certification is advantageous for material handling tasks.
