Overview The Technologist supports the development and execution of technical drawings and construction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, and project requirements. They collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to clarify design intent, address technical details, and facilitate smooth project coordination. The Technologist creates detailed drawings, 3D BIM models, and supporting documentation, as well as conducts site visits to verify alignment with plans and resolve on-site issues.
Education
Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification, or eligibility for certification, with Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC), is preferred.
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in architectural technology or a similar role, ideally within an architectural or engineering firm.
- Experience managing BIM models, producing technical drawings, and detailed construction documentation.
- Foundational knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, compliance processes, and building science.
- Familiarity with administering construction contracts.
- Familiarity with working alongside architects and consultant teams to support the design documentation, and construction process.
Skills
- Intermediate proficiency in design software, particularly Revit. Skills in with Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite are an asset.
- Intermediate understanding of construction materials, building systems, and methods.
- Intermediate knowledge of technical documentation and drawings.
- Intermediate ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors, and project teams.
- Intermediate problem-solving skills for addressing challenges in design and construction.
- Intermediate organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple tasks.
- Fundamental awareness of site inspection processes.
- Intermediate communication skills for technical discussions and collaboration with team members.

Duties Design, Documentation, and Communication
- Develop detailed technical drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and other software.
- Apply building codes, accessibility standards,
and zoning regulations to drawings.
- Update drawings based on design changes, regulatory updates, or client feedback as directed by the architect.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to project standards.
- Assist in the development of 3D models based on concept design sketches.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
- Assist in preparing permit applications with accurate technical documentation.
Project Coordination
- Assist in coordination with architects, consultant teams and contractors on technical requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to support the implementation of design intent.
- Research materials, construction methods, and building systems.
- Manage project timelines for assigned tasks to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule.
Construction
- Respond to RFIs by providing clear and accurate clarifications on design details and technical aspects.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction aligns with contract drawings and specifications.
- Prepare detailed and comprehensive site visit reports for project records.
General
- Contribute to a culture of team building and continuous improvement.
- Attend regular meetings, daily huddles, and other meetings as required.

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
