Totran Transportation is seeking an experienced Transportation Coordinator / Dispatcher to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing over-dimensional and heavy haul freight movements across Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will be highly organized, possess strong communication skills, and excel at managing multiple priorities while ensuring secure and efficient operations.

As a Transportation Coordinator / Dispatcher, you will communicate regularly with drivers through phone, email, and dispatch software, assign loads, coordinate routes and permits, and ensure freight is delivered safely and on schedule. You will also provide operational support by helping drivers navigate changing road and weather conditions while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch drivers and assign loads as requiredCoordinate and schedule heavy haul and over-dimensional freight movementsManage company drivers and owner operatorsObtain permits and arrange pilot/escort vehiclesOrganize projects, transportation plans,



and supporting documentationMaintain accurate records and operational filesEnsure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and permit requirementsMonitor heavy haul operations and ensure permits are obtained and completed on timeCommunicate effectively with customers, drivers, and internal stakeholdersProvide after-hours support and participate in the on-call rotation (one week per month)Follow all operational policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or senior leadership

Qualifications

Previous experience in transportation dispatching, logistics coordination, or heavy haul operationsStrong understanding of over-dimensional freight regulations and permitting processesExcellent organizational and multitasking abilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressureProficiency with computer systems, email, and dispatch softwareCommitment to safety and regulatory compliance
